From our "Nobody's Perfect" department come these corrections to the Lemon Lily article in our winter edition of ARTI-FACTS:
The lily's scientific name is Lilium parryi. It is native to the mountains of Southern California and SE Arizona, and is not an exotic Asian species. While Carl Linnaeus invented the system for naming species in 1735, he did not deal with the lemon lily, which was named for its 20th-century discoverer, distinguished botanist C. C. Parry. It is not a common plant, nor is it a daylily, and it is not available in garden centers.
We apologize for these errors and look forward to the coming Lemon Lily Festival in July.
